Tennessee GOP enjoys cash advantage over Dems

Tennessee Republicans enjoy a comfortable monetary lead over their Democratic counterparts as the parties prepare for the Nov. 6 elections, Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

Republican-controlled political action committees operating in Tennessee have a more than $1 million advantage in cash on hand compared to Democratic PACs.

Additionally, nine Republican state Senate candidates collectively enjoy a $1 million lead over their opponents, based on campaign finance disclosures. While complete totals for House candidates were not available, GOP candidates there are also believed to enjoy a $1 million advantage.

According to the News Sentinel, the GOP could achieve a two-thirds super majority by picking up two seats in each chamber. That would mean Republican lawmakers could still achieve a quorum if all Democratic lawmakers walked out.
